The rooms seem newly refurbished. Sink, floors, lamp.. imagine an IKEA room. North Beach is a great San Francisco neighborhood. I spent many years as a musician bartender in this neighborhood back in the day. Cities change, but the spirit remains here if you pay attention and so do our Italian friends Although not as indigenously populated by Italians North Beach once was, their important heritage and iconic contributions San Francisco live on in the form of families, fantastic bakeries, restaurants, art, architecture and community. The Hotel is peaceful. It's a great old building with old dark wood buttresses, walls staircases. I get the 'History' vibe in North Beach Hotel. The good and maybe not so good as history goes.. But just outside the Hotel door are the busy sidewalks of North Beach. People packing great restaurants, shopping , locals coming home from work, people chillin'. The Saloon, the oldest bar in San Francisco, just up the road Real pro blues musicians. Real live music in a Real Saloon. A must! The Great Star Theater with local live performance productions that are phenomenal. Nationally renowned Sketchfest every year. ( I've worked the last 2). Now showing " The Empire Strips Back". Line a block long every night to get in. You're just a block away because at the North Beach Hotel you are on the border of Chinatown in North Beach. 2 iconic neighborhoods within a block of the hotel. You might see the low competitive Room Rate Is deceiving. A shabby hotel where you dread coming home, but a cheap place to shower sleep and go right back out Not the case here. Fluffy towels, new Fridge, microwave...I'm not a big TV guy, but the First screen here is definitely big. With an insane non stop work schedule, apartment hunting , a side - hustle, classes..I had to check in between my 2 day & night shifts on a hectic Saturday.

Again, MUST give the front desk props man. Somehow I got double booked on a Friday Saturday. Needed to move one t Saturday Sunday. If I cancel I pay. Leave it as is stay in one room just let the other one with her I still pay for it too. Went back and forth with customer support of booking.com Next morning, the front desk woman just took care of it. Moved my reservation, all taken care of. I stayed through the weekend TO MAKE MY STAY ONE WEEK. I North Beach Hotel took care of that. Superb again . RECEIVED A MESSAGE FROM BOOKing.COM ON THE !APP. ' SORRY ABOUT THE OUTCOME BUT YOU HAVE TO PAY THE CANCELLATION THE IF YOU WANT TO STAY AT YOUR BANK FOR ANOTHER ROOM " SO ESSENTIALLY PAYING FOR 3 reservations FOR 2 DAY.weekend .(Sorry about all CAPS..) Hotel North Beach thought differently. NO charge for the cancellation.so much thanks for that. I am emphasizing the service at The Front Desk (again) for the 2nd review. Because not all of these hotels operate this way . I'll just leave it at that. Each HE'S NON-CORPORATED HOTELS.. ? They have their on personalities. I am grateful when you find one like this. Now to enjoy..... Walk out the Hotel North Beach front door. Take a left? You're on Columbus, the main artery of this legendary neighborhood. TransAmerica building in full view on one side... the chiming bells of St Peter and Paul Church mark the time as the breeze blows the live blues music coming from the oldest bar in San Francisco, the legendary Saloon legendary musicians, on a beautiful day. Take a Right? Chinatown. Wall to wall Asian shops, funky bars, Local Performance Theater, fresh fish, produce you never seen before unless you've been here or China... And wall to wall people surrounded by ornate architecture,, After a day of food and drinks and sights, you head back t Hotel North Beach rest up clean up for the evening.

3 bookings & 10 nights this Summer, Hotel North Beach has been a solid go to for me. The superb City of San Francisco is unique fur many reasons we knows and love. The cultures , the food, architecture, The Golden Gate, and progressive approach mikes ahead of most other Cities in the US. No city in the country offers less of the bland homogeneousness that has come to dominate many of the country's other major Cities. You can feel the slightly different vibes and rhythms from neighborhood to neighborhood. A inclusive, 800,000 person swath of dialects , cultures and humanity.types & their histories. I maybe romanticized a little but.. Hotel North Beach reminds me of that aspect of The City. Great deal, great rooms, (this night the room wasn't as cool, but July 4th, I booked last minute - good rate..Front Desk woman who checked me in was awesome. No complaints.) Showers, facilities always clean no matter what time of day. Never once had to wait, etc.. Great people, good location, stunning neighborhood.wth it's own vibe. Like San Francisco..

Everyday showers and toilets were kept clean. Making sure toilets had toilet rolls. The same with the showers. Making sure the towel was there to step onto after the shower. The only issue I had was my room. When I enter the room, I checked the drawers where the lamp sat. The top drawer had rubbish with empty food containers. The bottom drawer, the front part almost broke off. So I empty the rubbish, clean and fixed both drawers. I caught few cockroaches. It didn't bother me because I expect cockroaches from these old buildings. Not only they're old but also surrounded by restaurants infested with cockroaches and rats. There were unnecessary loud noises for the first time. Loud music, people screaming in the middle and early hours of the night for few days. Other than that, I enjoy my stay over there. As long as you keep and mind your own business, everything is going to be fine.

I've stayed here more times than I can count over the past 5 years, never once have I had a problem. The staff is always friendly and accommodating. For instance; I have been communicating between SF and LA for medical purposes, often mail arrives here for me for whatever reason, even when I'm not here. When I do come back into town I'm handed the stack, and rest assured it will all be there and it has been secure from the minute the mailman delivered it. The ONLY reason I ever stay elsewhere is they are completely booked.
